Planning Your Patagonia Fly Fishing Trip

Argentina Waters — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about planning your stay, the fishing, travel, gear, the lodge experience, and booking your trip to Patagonia.

1. Planning Your Trip

Argentina Waters is based inside Los Alerces National Park, in Patagonia, Argentina. The closest town is Esquel. Our location gives us direct access to an exceptional variety of rivers and lakes throughout Los Alerces National Park and the Esquel and Trevelin region.

Fish The Wild Waters Of Patagonia

From pristine rivers and spring creeks to remote lakes, every day at Argentina Waters offers a different fishing experience.

2. The Fishing

Our season runs from November through early May, and there is no single “best” week for everyone. November and December can offer excellent hatches and dry-fly opportunities. January and February are prime months for terrestrials and active surface fishing. March and April are especially attractive for anglers who enjoy streamers and trophy opportunities. We recommend dates based on the fishing style and species you want to prioritize.

3. Experience & Comfort

No. We welcome both experienced anglers and guests who are newer to fly fishing. Our guides adapt the day to your skill level and help with casting, presentation, fly selection, and technique when needed.

4. Gear & What to Bring

No. Rods and reels are available for guests who prefer not to travel with their own equipment. You are also welcome to bring your personal setup.

5. The Lodge Experience

We host a maximum of eight anglers. Keeping the group small allows us to maintain a personal, relaxed atmosphere and adapt the experience to each group.

Le Fario Lodge experience

Le Fario is the heart of our programs. Placed inside the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site of Los Alerces National Park, is a cozy lodge featuring five spacious bedrooms, in the banks of Laguna Larga.

6. Booking, Payments & Policies

Contact us with your preferred dates, group size, and fishing interests. We will confirm availability, recommend the most suitable program, and send you the reservation and payment details.

7. Why Argentina Waters?

Argentina Waters combines an intimate lodge experience with access to an exceptional variety of rivers and lakes. With a maximum of eight anglers, each fishing week can be adapted to the guests rather than following a rigid itinerary. Our location also allows us to reach many of the region’s best fisheries without spending unnecessary hours on the road.
